![]() ![]() Throughout Diao Chan's campaign, his motive is to create a world where Diao Chan can be happy, and worries about her getting hurt on the battlefield. When he first met Diao Chan, he was left speechless by her beauty, and her kind words, her encouragements, and her gentle nature quickly endeared her to him. He treats him with with more respect than his other soldiers in his army and has never berated him for any of his actions, even when Zhang Liao once insisted that he join Lu Bu in a battle when he wanted to fight alone. The closest thing he has to a friend in the series is Zhang Liao. His resentment is even further inflamed when the greedy tyrant takes the beautiful Diao Chan for his own. Lu Bu considers Dong Zhuo an arrogant pig and repulsive coward who is undeserving of his wealth and status, and only joined him because the pay was obscenely substantial. For this same reason, Lu Bu despises sycophants and suck ups and was resentful of having to be a lackey of Dong Zhuo. Despite his repeated betrayals, Lu Bu is a rather honest man, having little faith or respect in politicians, bureaucrats, and those who use deceptive words to gain power and hide like cowards behind the law for their own protection. More of a man of action than talk, he disregards strategy and politics as a waste of his time. He believes himself to be the "Mightiest Man Alive", and believes that the only true justice in the world is not found in any court, but when one fights for one's life on the battlefield, where the strong survive and the weak are crushed. ![]() Lu Bu is typically depicted as an extremely aggressive, brutish, and bloodthirsty warrior who fights for the sole purpose of finding an opponent worthy of challenge. 4.2 Romance with Diao chan and Slaying Dong Zhuo.4.1 Battle with Three Heroes at Hulao Pass.He was executed, along with Gao Shun and Chen Gong in 199AD. This allowed Cao Cao to isolate him and launch the Xiapi campaign. He wavered between fighting Yuan Shu and allying with him and didn't build up his strength during peacetime. However, he was not able to lead a state, and both diplomacy and administration went poorly for him. Zhang Fei mistreated his soldiers, who turned to Lu Bu for help, whereupon he threw Zhang Fei out of Xiapi, claiming Xu for his own.Īt this point, Lu Bu had a strong army, a decent strategist in Chen Gong, and some of the best generals of the era under his command, such as Zhang Liao, Gao Shun, and Zang Ba. Liu Bei went off to go fight Yuan Shu, and while he was away, Zhang Fei was left in charge of Xu. Lu Bu and Cao Cao then warred over Yan for some time, but Cao Cao ultimately won and Lu Bu was forced to seek refuge with Liu Bei in Xu. Lu Bu spent the next couple of years bouncing between different warlords, most of whom didn't trust him as far as they could throw him (Yuan Shu outright refused to have him, Yuan Shao tried to kill him), until he was invited by Chen Gong and Zhang Miao to replace Cao Cao as Inspector of Yan Province while Cao Cao was away fighting Tao Qian. He killed Dong Zhuo, but Wang Yun refused to grant amnesty to Dong Zhuo's other generals, who proceeded to kill Wang Yun and drive Lu Bu out of Chang'an. Following He Jin's assassination, Dong Zhuo took over and managed to persuade or bribe Lu Bu into killing Ding Yuan, who would have been a rival for power over the capitol. When the chaos around Emperor Ling's death erupted in Luoyang, Ding Yuan was one of those recalled to the capitol by He Jin to help fix the situation. Ding Yuan, Inspector of Bing Province, heard about him and made him one of his staff. Due to the chaotic nature of the region, he quickly gained a reputation for being a great warrior, fantastic archer, and expert rider. The other poster child for the Three Kingdoms era, Lu Bu hailed from Jiuyang in Bing province, the northern frontier of the empire.
